KeenTan

KeenTan
This term we are learning about culture!
1 week ago, we had a cultural afternoon that involved 3 activities. But the classes’ favorite was an Aboriginal game called KeenTan.

In this game you’ve got 2 teams and there is a ball. The twist is; you’ve got to be in the air to pass it and in the air to receive it. If you don’t time your jump perfectly (if you’re on the ground when you pass or receive the ball) then it’s a handover to the the other team.

If you get 3 correct passes in a row then that’s a point. First to your decided number wins.
We really hope that we can play it again!

Thanks, Eilidh. 😀

Here is a video of some kids playing Keentan (it is not us though!)

Term 4

On Tuesday the whole senior syndicate walked into the hall to do Karakia. After karakia we had a scavenger hunt with each other and we were only allowed to have one person from our class. On the sheet of paper there were many questions like find someone that plays an instrument, find somebody that was born in a different country and find someone that plays a different sport than you etc. We only had a certain amount of time. After we had finished the scavenger hunt we got into groups of six but we had to have different eye colour, hair colour, and different room numbers. We got given a card with a special dance on it then each group had to try come up with a dance in 15 minutes everyone was up to the challenge. My group was first to perform and we didn't even know what we were doing but we danced then sat down to watch how the dance really went on YouTube. Then watched everyone else dance crazily.

We are learning about cultural diversity this term, we have named our unit ‘Cultureverse’.
